Artist Statement
Artists are creatures without inhibition. We observe, we investigate, we dream, we perfect, and we create. More importantly, we EVOLVE. We were created to create, and creation is in our very breath. Art is more than something visual or audible; it has a spirit as we have a spirit. It is a living, breathing entity and something that grows and evolves, not statically drones, not stagnantly decomposes, but it is alive as we are. It hurts, it breathes, it bleeds, it feels, it hears, it speaks, it matures, and it inspires. Art is first And foremost a manifestation of emotion and life.
I endeavor to encompass these things in my works. I am obsessed with the mysteries hidden on both the macro and micro levels of our creation. I wish to inspire the viewer to think they are peering through the lens of a microscope and witnessing mitosis for the first time; or possibly through a telescope into the greater cosmos beholding the birth of a star. Some things that have inspired my work are the natural, hypostatic melding of sediment often found in river basins, after spring showers, in celestial bodies and super-novas, or even in chicken noodle soup. Thus, my work has often been described as liquid, molten, effervescent, fluid, and organic. Nature and the laws found therein are the chief inspirations to my creative process and remains the subject and theme to everything I create; regardless of the style within I choose to paint. The chief purpose of this series is to captivate the audience on the wonder and beauty of Nature, hopefully inspiring them to preserve it for generations to come.

Brief Biography

Wallace DuVall began his college career as a History and Anthropology major, being obsessed with the artifacts and monuments left to us from ancient civilizations. Wallace always appreciated the fine arts, recognizing them as our own modern-day artifacts. Thus, it came as no surprise that the arts ultimately turned his direction from being a student of History, to writing it; not with pen, but with brush. Wallace explored his creative side by apprenticing for Robert Meredith Studios (Jr.), Scarlett Jimison Studio, and studying under Chris diDomizio at Old World Art and tromp loeil master Robert Meredith Sr. He has been using his passion to make a living ever since. Currently, Wallace works both commercially and residentially to produce paintings, murals, portraiture, and faux finishes. Wallace enjoys the opportunity that new challenges bring, and he is constantly exploring new ways to express it; both in traditional and contemporary styles.
